Beware: Scammers pose as O! employees and try to steal SMS codes

A new method of phone scam has been reported in Bishkek.

A new method of phone scam has been reported in Bishkek. A taxi driver received a call from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as an employee of the O! Mobile Operator and asked an unusual question: "How many years do you plan to use your SIM card – 5 or 10? Would you like us to extend your contract?" At the same time, the driver received an SMS with a code, which the caller insisted he share.

Official warning from the O! Mobile Operator:

  • O! employees never call to ask how long you plan to use your SIM card,

  • They do not offer to “extend the validity of your number”,

  • They never request SMS codes or numbers sent to you.

All such calls are made by scammers trying to gain access to customers’ personal data and funds.

If you receive a similar call, hang up immediately and never, under no circumstances, share SMS codes.

Fake ads on social media

We also remind you that fake ads may appear on social networks, filmed by scammers against the backdrop of O! offices. Such ads may claim that you can supposedly receive 400 KGS for leaving a review. The ad contains a link that leads to a fake messenger channel where scammers then ask you to enter your personal data. O! emphasizes that such promotions are fraudulent and have nothing to do with the company.

What should you do?

If you receive a suspicious call or come across a questionable ad, end the contact immediately, never share SMS codes, and never enter your personal data through suspicious links. Always verify information through O!’s official channels. Our support service is available 24/7 via:
